What We Were Promised in the Year 2000

“Every movie ever made, in every language, any time, day or night”, and software so badass we wouldn’t care that we didn’t have flying cars yet.


In 2000, I was wishing for a way to carry around what I thought of, in my high school sophomore, Beat poetry-loving, purple corduroy pants-wearing way, as ‘the soundtrack to my life’–any song that popped into my head, whenever I wanted it, without having to swap CDs out of my Sony Discman. (The first-ever iPod came out in October 2001.)
