Finding Satoshi in Kaysersberg

I’ve been working on the Find Satoshi project, a global “six degrees of separation” puzzle trying to locate a man given only his photograph and first name, since 2005. In 2007, I got to visit the spot where his self-portrait was taken: Kaysersberg, in the Alsace region of France.

Funnily enough, I was in Colmar for an unrelated business trip. My boss very indulgently rented a car and we took the short trip over. It was a beautiful town and tracking down the exact spot on which Satoshi stood was a fun though slightly surreal experience.
